The teenage pairing of James Cooper and Connor Talbot scored the knock-out blow to send Newton Green into the semi-finals of the Suffolk Hambro Cup.
Newton had found themselves two holes adrift after the morning foursomes against visitors Fynn Valley, but ended the day seven up.
This reversal in fortunes was covered in one match, in which Cooper (handicap three) and Talbot (5) had slaughtered their opponents Mark Wilder and Kane Mayes 10-up, despite having to concede 12 shots to the opposition.
The Newton pair had also won two-up in their morning match against Wilder and Kane Mayes, while Steve Wordley and Lewis Cooper were three-up. However, defeats in the other two matches left Newton adrift overall.
In match-play terms, the teams were level on the day, but the massive margin of the Cooper/Talbot win finally left Newton reasonably comfortable winners.
In the previous rounds Felixstowe (10-up) and Hintlesham (16-up) had been defeated, and the trio of wins puts Newton back in the last four of a competition they won twice running in the first half of the decade.
However, they face formidable opposition in the semis when they clash with Woodbridge, who were winners when the teams met in the Suffolk Stenson scratch competition earlier in the season.
